Hello
My Name is Marisol Gomez, a current M.S. Biological Sciences Candidate and Microbiology GTA at The University of Alabama. My current research focus is on neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., mTBI's) and how to prevent and/or rescue the behavioral side effects associated with mild traumatic brain injuries. I then plan to hopefully one day, successfully obtain a PhD./M.D. to become a physician scientist, advocator, and educator within the field of science & medicine. I am excited to continue the pursuit of my ambitions so that I may grow my knowledge, skills and further involve myself in the fascinations of research, medicine, science and (now) art.
The ability to express my creative thoughts and ideas through art has been something I have cherished for over a decade. Since grade school, I have been painting, drawing, digitally designing, etc., simply because I love it. Until very recently, I thought I had immersed myself in the many forms of art, but discovered an artistic niche combining the two very things I love most: Art and STEM. With that said, I had the privilege of taking comparative neuroanatomy, where I was then introduced to medical illustrating. With encouraging feedback and mentorship, I am very excited to share my creativity with you and grow my portfolio.
